Baldwyn Schools announces delayed back to school calendar

At-home studies begin Aug. 17, with students set to return to the classroom on Sept. 8, under newly revised calendar approved July 29.

In efforts to provide the best course of safety and instruction to all of our students, BSD has moved the official First Day of School to August 17, 2020. However, this will not be a traditional first day of school.

At-Home Paper Packets for ALL students (Aug.17- Sept.4)

From August 17 to September 4, 2020, students will be REQUIRED to complete paper packets at home each week to comply with the Mississippi Department of Education State Attendance Policy and for grades for class/course credit. More details on distribution of paper packets will be announced later which will include pick-up times and bus deliveries with meals.

In-Person Return & Online Learning Begins (September 8)

Beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2020, on-campus students will return to school in-person to begin traditional in-class studies following the same BSD Re-Opening Back to School Plan that has been publicized. ONLINE (distance learning) students will remain at home to begin their course work via Canvas and iPads provided by the district. A parent/guardian meeting will be scheduled with each online/distance learning students prior to September 8 for instruction on how to use Canvas and iPads.

Back to School Registration (Aug. 3-7)

Back to School Registration for ALL students will be conducted using strict safety measures during the week of August 3-7, 2020. This registration process will allow for school supplies to be dropped off, teachers to be met for K-4th grades, and schedules to be distributed 5-12th grades. More details on what specific day and time for your child’s grade to participate in registration will be announced soon. Registration data forms for ALL students is available online and/or via paper forms at each school. If you have ALREADY completed a registration data form, you do NOT have re-register.

“We understand these are confusing and trying times. BSD administration felt this was the best decision to allow our staff and students to continue to be safe during the COVID-19 threats and for our staff to best prepare instruction for our students in a timely manner. Please be aware that any details can be altered with the continued observation of the COVID-19 threat. We will do our best to communicate with all students and parents/guardians within our district,”  BSD Superintendent Jason McKay
