Winter Weather Advisory posted for Baldwyn/Prentiss County, parts of Northeast Mississippi

    Whether we wind up with a dusting or enough to build a somewhat respectable snowman remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: winter weather is headed to our region Monday night into Tuesday morning.

    No announcements of closings have been made yet, but we have reached out to area schools for information on whether pre-emptive closing announcements will be made. We will update this story with that information as soon as it becomes available.

    As for the weather, this is what the National Weather Service posted on Sunday, Jan. 27:

    …WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TO 9 AM CST TUESDAY… * WHAT…SNOW EXPECTED. PLAN ON DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS, INCLUDING DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE ON TUESDAY. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE INCH, WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS UP TO TWO INCHES, ARE EXPECTED. * WHERE…PORTIONS OF NORTH MISSISSIPPI AND WEST TENNESSEE. * WHEN…FROM MIDNIGHT TO 9 AM CST TUESDAY. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS…BE PREPARED FOR REDUCED VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. ADDITIONALLY, FLASH FREEZING OF RAIN FROM MONDAY NIGHT MAY OCCUR DUE TO THE RAPIDLY FALLING TEMPERATURES.
