This is the 29th year the bank branch has hosted an Angel Tree for area youth.
Marietta | Just a few angels remain of 77 that originally were placed on the Angel Tree at Farmers & Merchants Bank’s Marietta Branch, with the deadline quickly approaching for them to be picked up.
Branch Manager Cheryl Carter said they hope to have all angels taken from the tree by Friday, Dec. 7, but can hold out until Dec. 10 (if angels still remain that long) for anyone who wishes to come by and pick one up.
This marks the 29th year the bank has sponsored the Angel Tree and it’s a tradition bank employees look forward to each year.
“It just means so much,” Carter said. “Many of these children might not have gifts for Christmas if it wasn’t for this. We’ve had lots of parents through the years tell us how much they appreciate this.”
Through the years the bank has had as many as 170 children’s names on the tree. The angels come from the Marietta area as well as some in foster care and daycare centers. Area churches and individuals have been good through the years to help fulfill the needs and wishes of the children.
“We have had tremendous support from area churches and individuals” said Tina Hutchens, V.P. Loan Officer at the Marietta branch. “We’ve never had any angels not adopted.”
