La Piñata is being built on Fourth Street and will offer traditional and Tex-Mex dishes.
BALDWYN – As soon as he can get it open, Luis Silva plans to open a new location of his La Piñata Mexican Grill restaurant in Baldwyn.
Work is underway on a building just south of the county line on Fourth Street. Work crews with Prentiss County Electric Power Association rerouted traffic briefly Wednesday morning to run a new power line to the building.
When it is opened, the restaurant will feature traditional Mexican fare.
“We’ll have traditional dishes and we will also have some Tex-Mex,” Silva said.
The restaurant is expected to have seating for about 70 inside, and will feature outdoor seating on the front. Silva said he expects to hire around 10 to 12 employees and be open seven days a week.
Silva designed the building himself. It will feature a stucco exterior. He had been scouting other locations prior to landing on this building site. Being able to serve alcohol was a major factor in the business being located on the Lee County side of town.
Other locations of La Piñata are in Booneville and Corinth.
