Strength, dedication and team work were all part of combination of skills used by firefighters against competing teams.

On Saturday, April 29, 2017 eight teams of firefighters competed at Mantachie City Park in various events towards winning the trophy. Each team consisted of four firemen. Firemen from over twenty departments were on teams. There were also fire fighter events for those competing as one.

Four hours of strenuous activities such as dummy dragging and hose pulling ended with the Baldwyn team owning the trophy. Those competing on the Baldwyn team were Will Francis, Fire Captain Buck Franks, Jeremy Rakestraw and Johnny Steen.

“We am proud and thankful for this group of men who give of themselves and time to be the best firefighters they can be,” said Mayor Michael James.

Fire Chief Jerry Osbirn was unable to attend as he was married the same day.
