Nigeria Ward, 32, and Jerrett Agnew, 35, both of Guntown, are faced with robbery and aggravated assault charges as of October 15.

The Baldwyn Police Department responded to a 911 call from the victim of Ward and Agnew. The victim said that he was riding with the two suspects in a vehicle when they demanded he give them all his money. Ward and Agnew then stopped the vehicle on a back road and proceeded to assault the victim physically and with the use of a hammer.

Agnew and Ward were also reported to have stolen $142 and prescription medicines from the victim. The victim also said the two suspects tried to run him over with their vehicle. He escaped through the woods and made it to a home on Cemetery Street in Baldwyn.

Both suspects are on bond for $50,000. Ward has a Mississippi Department of Corrections hold on him, and both Agnew and Ward are being detained in Lee County jail.

“We are glad that the victim was fortunate enough to make it to safety. If you have been a victim of a crime or have information concerning crimes in our city, please contact our office at 662-365-1047,” Chief Troy Agnew said.
