It’s that time of year again. Ornaments, lights and garland now line the shelves of department stores. Baldwyn Main Street Chamber is preparing to welcome the holiday season with its own annual Christmas events.

Baldwyn merchants will host a Christmas Open House on Thursday, November 14 from 4 – 8:30 p.m. Businesses will extend hours to these times and feature holiday items with special sales, refreshments and door prizes.

Children are also welcome to the event to have pictures with Santa made at Britney Lee Photography Studio on Main Street. Carriage ride tickets will also be available at the Regions Bank parking lot.

“We have a variety of shopping opportunities for this year’s open house. We also will be giving away a $100 Baldwyn Bucks gift certificate,” Chamber Executive Director Lori Tucker said.

Shoppers may visit and register for the Baldwyn Bucks give-away at Susan’s Flowers & Gifts, Tin Roof, Blonde Pistol Boutique, Silly Sister’s, Houston’s Pharmacy, Belle’s & Bows, Southern Charm, Xtreme Tan and Razzle Dazzle.

“The night will have something for all ages. Come see what Baldwyn has to offer this holiday season,” Tucker added.

Mark you calendars for Thursday, December 5 to enjoy the annual Christmas parade in downtown Baldwyn. The theme for this year’s parade is “O Holy Night.”

The Baldwyn Main Street Chamber is accepting applications for parade participation at this time. Entry fee is $10 for nonprofit groups and $20 for commercial. Deadline to enter is Tuesday, December 3 at 5 p.m. Applications are available at City Hall.

Line up for parade participants will be at 5:15 p.m. on Highway 370 and the parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. The parade will travel down Highway 145 from Highway 370 and then turn onto Main Street and continue in route down Front Street onto Clayton Street. Then the parade will turn back onto Highway 145 and end at the high school parking lot.

“Church groups, pageant winners, clubs, bands, athletic groups, daycares, boy scout and girl scout troops, and more are encouraged to participate,” Tucker said.
